An overnight snowstorm is tapering off Wednesday morning after leaving little snow in Denver and a few inches in the suburbs south of the city.

“We’ve probably seen the most of it already today,” Kyle Fredin, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Boulder office, said at about 6 a.m.

Up to three inches of snow was recorded in the south metro area while only a trace fell at Denver International Airport and in areas north of the city.

Fredin said the most snowfall was recorded in western Jefferson County where up to 6.5 inches fell.

Warm weather is expected to return to the metropolitan area through the weekend. Forecasters are calling for a high of 63 degrees on Thursday.
