AIR FORCE ACADEMY — One in 10 female Air Force Academy cadets suffered unwanted sexual contact during the school year that ended in May, and half of the women at the school reported sexual harassment in a Pentagon survey.

The results of an annual report card on sexual assault at the academy released Wednesday, though, showed some signs of progress.

“We’re moving in the right direction,” said Col. C.J. Bausano, the academy’s vice commandant of culture and climate.

Reports of sexual assault at the university dropped from 45 in 2013 to 27 last year. A survey of cadets showed that the number of women experiencing unwanted sexual contact — from groping to rape — dropped slightly from 11 percent to 10 percent.
