A pedestrian was killed Wednesday night in an accident on E-470, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway near Quincy Avenue. All southbound lanes were blocked between Jewell and Quincy and traffic was being detoured at Jewell until 11:04 p.m.
According to CSP spokesman Nate Reid, the department received a telephone call at about 7:21 p.m. saying there was debris on the road. About 11 minutes later, the pedestrian was hit by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
The truck driver remained on the scene.
Reid said investigators were trying to determine whether the phone call and the accident were related.
“We’re trying to find out where the person was coming from, if there’s a car somewhere that’s abandoned,” Reid said. “it’s going to take some time.”
