After a cool May that included frequent rain, thunderstorms and spring snowfall, we expect to see improvement for the month of June.

To set the stage, here are the normals for the sixth month of the year: The normal high and low on June 1 is 77 and 48, warming to 82 and 52 on the 15th, and 87 and 56 on the 30th.

Temperatures will not run as much below normal in June as compared to May.

The El Niño springtime pattern that brought the wetter and cooler May should transition into more of a stormy pattern during June.

The temperature pattern will exhibit swings of warmer to perhaps hot temperatures on occasion ahead of frequent fronts that will bring the threat of thunderstorms and severe weather as well as cooler temperatures.

Although there will be shifts in the general pattern during the month, thunderstorms can occur every three to four days with sunny and warmer days in between.

Temperatures are expected to average close to normal for the month overall with near- to slightly-above normal precipitation.
