CNBC announced Thursday it will hold a Republican presidential debate Oct. 28 at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

The Republican National Committee announced in January that Colorado would host the third of nine presidential debates.

In a news release Thursday, CNBC said the debate will be at the university’s Coors Events Center and will center on the economy.

“Presidential elections are often won or lost based on core economic positions, understandings and values,” Mark Hoffman, CNBC’s chairman, said in the release. “Our nation’s economy and place in the world, job growth, entrepreneurship and the pursuit of the American dream live at the very center of CNBC’s mission each day and will be the centerpiece of our line of focused questioning at this debate.”

The release did not indicate who of the more than a dozen GOP candidates will be included in the debate.

In a statement, the university said it is “delighted” to host the first of the GOP debates held on a university campus.

“We have a long history at CU-Boulder of hosting high-profile visitors who bring exciting and engaging opportunities for our students and community to hear a variety of viewpoints,” Philip P. DiStefano, CU-Boulder chancellor, said in the statement. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with CNBC and feel this debate will be a memorable experience for our students and the entire community.”

The Daily Camera reports CU is still working out the details of the event, but assured students an allotment of tickets would be available to them.
