It was unclear if the tornado caused any damage.

Joe McBride, the spokesman for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, said the twister pulled a door off the house and also damaged power poles and knocked out electricity. Officials were working to determine how many homes lost power and estimated Xcel Energy wouldn’t be able to restore it until around 11 p.m.

No other damage or injuries were reported.

At 3:20 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Morgan, Washington, Elbert, Lincoln, Phillips, Yuma, Kiowa, Logan and Sedgwick counties until 10 p.m.

Chad Gimmestad, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Boulder, warned people in those areas to watch for gusty winds.

Earlier this month, meteorologist Kyle Fredin of the NWS in Boulder said Colorado’s severe weather zone falls the first two weeks of June.

“So you can pretty much wrap that around late May into June when you’ll see the most significant severe weather — even though it can happen anywhere from the middle of April to the middle of September,” he said.
