Here comes the rain, again.

Forecasters are calling for a chance of showers on Thursday in Denver as temperatures creep toward a high near 58 degrees. After 1 p.m., the National Weather Service in Boulder says, thunderstorms are possible.

At about 8 p.m. Thursday, forecasters say heavy rains will return to the Front Range and last into Friday afternoon.

“Scattered rain and snow showers will develop over the mountains by later (Thursday) morning and become more widespread later in the day and tonight,” the weather service said in a bulletin.

Mountain passes near an altitude of 10,000 feet are expected to see up to 8 inches of snow by Friday morning. Forecasters say thundersnow is also possible in some higher elevation areas.

“Rain showers will spread over the plains (Thursday night) with rainfall amounts anywhere from a quarter-inch to around three-quarters of an inch by Friday afternoon,” according to the bulletin. “With already saturated soils, expect some minor flooding of fields and low lying areas.”

A flood warning is in effect until Saturday morning for the Cache La Poudre River near Greeley and for the South Platte River in Weld, Morgan, Logan and Washington counties.

Daily rain showers and thunderstorms should be expected through the middle of next week, according to the weather service, as “weather disturbances” make their way through the state.
