A man armed with a crossbow in Colorado Springs was taken into custody with the help of a police dog named Diesel.

Officers were called at about 12:33 p.m. Tuesday to the 2500 block of East Bijou Street on a report of a disturbance involving a man armed with a crossbow, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.

When officer arrived the man was pacing around an empty parking lot across the street from a business, police said.

Officers order the man to drop the crossbow, which he did, but he “refused to obey further commands,” police said.

A police dog, Diesel, was “deployed” and bit the suspect — identified as Ancus Marcius Hoffar Bone — who was then detained by police.

The man had threatened to kill an employee of the nearby business using the bow, police said.

After being treated for the bite, Bone was taken to jail.
