The man who died skiing Tuesday at Breckenridge Ski Resort was heading down an intermediate run when he collided with another skier, lost control and ran into a tree, officials say.
Christopher Dutko’s cause of death was blunt force trauma injuries, the Summit County Coroner’s Office said on Wednesday.
Dutko, 26, was living and working in Breckenridge but was originally from Pennsylvania.
“He did not have a helmet on,” Coroner Regan Wood said in a statement. Dutko was skiing on the Sundown run on Breckenridge’s Peak 9.
Dutko’s manner of death has been ruled an accident.
The resort’s ski patrol responded to the crash about 11:15 a.m. and “provided advanced life support” before Dutko was taken to the St. Anthony Breckenridge Community Clinic Emergency Center and pronounced dead.
