A 27-year-old man suspected of armed robbery was taken into custody by authorities in Loveland on Friday morning after a SWAT standoff at an apartment, officials say.
Joshua Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of robbery and eight outstanding warrants, two of them for felonies, police said.
Officials say Rodriguez fled to an apartment on Aspen Drive near Taft Avenue after the robbery and refused to come out.
“Negotiators from the SWAT team tried to get Rodriguez to surrender to the police department,” police said in a news release. “He refused to communicate with the negotiators. The SWAT tactical team deployed less-lethal munitions into the apartment (and) Rodriguez surrendered.”
Roads in the area were shut down before the arrest was made at about 8:30 a.m. SWAT was called to the scene at 6:30 a.m.
Rodriguez was transported to the Larimer County jail, police say.
“The investigation into the alleged robbery is still under investigation,” police said.
