A national CenturyLink electrical outage was to blame for a mistaken recorded message that Colorado’s Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline was out of service.

The outage, which impacted all toll-free numbers hosted by CenturyLink throughout the nation, resulted in callers to the hotline hearing erroneous, recorded messages that the number was no longer a working number, according to a news release.

CenturyLink was able to fix the toll-free service has been restored to Colorado’s Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline (1-844-CO-4-KIDS).

“We are heartened that this service is once again available throughout the state,” said Amanda Brannum, a spokeswoman for the program. “Throughout this disruption, our county partners were on heightened alert and we are thankful for their commitment.”
