Results from standardized tests Colorado students took this spring will be released Thursday.

The tests from the Transitional Colorado Assessment Program, or TCAP, were transitional tests given to students starting in 2012 while the state adopted new academic standards.

The TCAP tests were meant to provide a transition, testing on a mix of old and upcoming standards, especially where they overlap.

By spring, the state will have a new test, the Colorado Measures of Academic Success, or CMAS, to fit the new standards as schools make the full switch.

The Colorado Department of Education will release the scores to the public at noon Thursday, and will hold a news conference to discuss the results at 1 p.m.

State officials also will release performance data on the Colorado ACT, a nationally accepted college entrance exam, typically given to high school juniors.
