The Aurora man accused of killing a 17-year-old boy in a traffic accident early Monday has numerous DUIs and never held a valid driver’s license, police said.
Ever Olivos-Gutierrez , 40, is under guard at the hospital by police until he is discharged, according to a news release from Aurora police.
Olivos-Gutierrez is being treated for injuries he suffered in the crash. He is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Olivos-Gutierrez is accused of running a red light and slamming his Ford Expedition into a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Juan Carlos Dominguez-Palomino on South Dayton Street at East Colfax Avenue around midnight, according to the release.
Once discharged from the hospital, Olivos-Gutierrez will be taken to jail on suspicion of murder in the first-degree – extreme indifference; vehicular homicide – DUI; vehicular homicide – reckless; driving while habitual traffic offender – DUI; and numerous other charges, according to the release.
Dominguez-Palomino, who was on spring break from Aurora West College Preparatory Academy, was driving home from a friend’s house, where they had been looking over a car they were going to work on.
Aurora police were informed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Division of Enforcement and Removal Operations that Olivos-Gutierrez is living in the country illegally, according to the release.
Olivos-Gutierrez’s last documented, lawful entry into the country was on a visitor visa in July 2003, police said. That visa expired in January 2004.
