A wrong-way, head-on crash, which injured two drivers, shut down lanes of I-25 in Denver near 58th Avenue early Friday afternoon.
The crash happened about 12:40 p.m. and one of the two vehicles involved was heading in the wrong direction of the HOV lane, said Trooper Josh Lewis, a Colorado State Patrol Spokesman.
Both drivers were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries, Lewis said.
The HOV/HOT lane has been closed, along with the left lanes of both northbound and southbound I-25, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
All lanes, including the HOV lanes, were reopened by 4:30 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, including how the wrong-way vehicle wound up on the highway. During that time of day, the HOV is set for northbound traffic coming out of downtown.
