Greeley police arrested a woman they say fled her apartment Tuesday night with her two children in tow and began to randomly fire guns during what authorities believe was a bout of hallucination.

Kelly Renee Barnes, 44, is being held at the Weld County jail on a long list of charges, including attempted first-degree murder, child abuse and prohibited weapons use.

Officers were called out to the 1200 block of 26th Avenue at about 8 p.m. on reports of gunfire. After talking with witnesses, Barnes was identified as a suspect and located with her children at a store roughly three miles away.

Two firearms were recovered at the shooting scene, according to authorities, where evidence of gunfire was found.

“There were no injuries to anyone during this incident,” police said in a news release.

Barnes’ children were released to a family member.
