Police in Colorado Springs arrested a 17-year-old girl on Thursday after she led officers on a vehicle chase before fleeing on foot and struggling as authorities attempted to arrest her.

An officer first spotted the girl about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Templeton Gap and Dublin Boulevard where police tried to stop her sports utility vehicle. The vehicle sped off when the officer activated his emergency lights, police said, fleeing in an “evasive manner.”

“The driver bailed out on foot and a lengthy chase ensued,” police said.

When police caught up to the teen, who was not identified, a brief struggle ensued before she was taken into custody.

“The driver was charged with resisting arrest in addition to multiple traffic charges,” police said.
