Anti-gang activist Terrance Roberts, accused of attempted murder in connection with a shooting in his Park Hill neighborhood, appeared in Denver District Court on Monday.
Roberts, 37, allegedly shot reputed gang member Hasan “Munch” Jones, 22, in September. Jones was shot multiple times on the basketball courts of Holly Square in Park Hill.
A crowd had gathered at the park for a rally Roberts helped to organize.
In March, Roberts pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder charge and two other counts. On Monday, Roberts’ attorneys said they could not reach a disposition on the case.
The case was continued until Friday.
Roberts has remained free on a $100,000 bond.
Denver police officers say they overheard Roberts say he shot Jones because he was threatened with a knife. Witnesses, however, told police that Roberts shot Jones at least five times.
