A man who took part in the vandalism of Englewood High School in January 2014 was sentenced Thursday to three years in the Department of Corrections.
Anthony Ryan Meany, 26, was one of three men convicted in the case, in which the school’s band and computer rooms were damaged by fire.
Michael Alan Trickel, 23, of Englewood, was sentenced to five years probation in June. Chad Delgadillo, 29, also of Englewood, received the same sentence in August.
As part of their sentences, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said, all three defendants are ordered to pay $201,366.49 in restitution to Englewood School District.
Delgadillo and Trickel are also ordered to serve 1,000 hours of community service.
Officials said all three men worked together at a local restaurant.
The DA’s Office said an investigation showed that Meany, previously charged in an Arapahoe County church vandalism, was the ringleader of the incident.
“I am hopeful that several years in prison will limit Meany’s bucket list of criminal activity to burglarizing a church and trying to burn down a school,” District Attorney George Brauchler said.
During its investigation, Englewood Police found a receipt from a nearby gas station; video surveillance showed the three men putting gas into their car as well as an empty water bottle and purchasing a cigarette lighter.
Officials said the high school also provided video surveillance that showed three individuals breaking the windows of the computer lab. Shortly after, one is seen bringing in a fire extinguisher.
Englewood Police also found a cell phone in the courtyard on campus. The phone contained a video that showed Delgadillo and Trickel starting fires throughout the band room, while Meany played drums.
Meany pled guilty to second-degree burglary and second-degree arson in October.
