A driver involved in an injury collision Wednesday night fled the Broomfield scene on foot while the other driver was taken to a local hospital.

The crash happened about 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Wadsworth Boulevard and Uptown Avenue, said Sgt. Steve Griebel, a Broomfield Police Department spokesman.

The driver who fled the scene was heading south on Wadsworth when the collision occurred with an eastbound vehicle on Uptown Avenue, Griebel said.

Police searched for the driver, with help from the Westminster Police Department canine unit, but came up empty.

Police have impounded the suspect vehicle and have also identified the owner of the vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing. Police could not yet say whether the owner and the driver Wednesday night are the same person.

Further details on the injured driver’s condition were not released.
