Snowflakes fell at Denver International Airport overnight, but not enough to count as an official September snowfall.

Temperatures were frigid all day and were expected to drop into the high 30s overnight into Saturday.

Temperatures peaked at 46 in the city, six degrees warmer than the record low high, set in 1939.

Denver weather forecasters with the National Weather Service said only a trace of snow fell at DIA, not the one-tenth of an inch required to count as “measurable” snow.

The last time Denver saw measurable snow in September was 14 years ago, in 2000.

Overnight, temperatures at the airport dipped to 33 degrees, 2 degrees warmer than the record low for Sept. 12, set back in 1902.

Boulder, however, did get one-tenth of an inch overnight. Central City got half an inch, as did other areas throughout the foothills, the weather service said.

On Saturday, the high will climb near 77 degrees under sunny skies. Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 86, the weather service said.
