The National Park Service on Monday is waiving entrance fees at parks nationwide in celebration of its 98th year.

Colorado alone has 13 of the nation’s 401 national parks, including the iconic Rocky Mountain National Park in Larimer County and Mesa Verde National Park in Montezuma County.

“Elk are migrating from the high country to the lower meadows, and bulls are beginning to be seen hanging around with the ladies,” the Rocky Mountain National Park said in a Facebook post.

Roughly 5.4 million people visited the state’s national parks in 2013, spending more than $300 million, according to the service.

Colorado’s border states also have dozens of parks.
