Castle Rock’s special election on gun regulations continues to attract controversy, with another lawsuit being filed over the weekend contesting the way mail-in ballots are being processed by the town.

The suit, filed in Douglas County District Court by Internet radio host and Castle Rock resident Daniel Meurer, asks a judge to stop the counting of ballots from the town’s Aug. 19 special election and render it void. Elections officials say a final tally of the more than 9,400 ballots received isn’t expected until later this week. The ballot asks voters who should be in charge of enacting firearms restrictions in Castle Rock.
