The first phase of Aspen’s Skiing Co.’s overhaul of the base of Buttermilk includes $10 million for a kids’ ski center and improvements to parking and shuttle and pedestrian areas.
The project tops a list of big-ticket projects underway at Colorado ski areas that is short on new chairlifts but heavy on guest-service improvements, according to information compiled by Colorado Ski Country USA.
The Hideout at Buttermilk is expected to open in December. It will serve as the headquarters for kids’ ski school and rentals and will include play areas and gathering places.
