Denver police arrested 10 protesters for defacing the west steps of the state Capitol on Wednesday by spray painting it with graffiti during a demonstration connected to the “Million Mask March.”
One of the arrests was for felony assault on a police officer while most were for destruction of property, police said on Twitter.
Organized by the internet activist group Anonymous, the march was touted online as involving more than 480 locations around the world on Guy Fawkes Night.
Fawkes and others were arrested on Nov. 5, 1605 while attempting to set an explosion at the House of Lords in London, an event known as the “Gunpowder Plot.”
During Wednesday’s masked marches, at least five people were arrested in London and events took place in New York, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco.
In Denver, dozens of protesters marched from the capitol to Union Station and back again before the arrests took place.
