In the ongoing effort to untangle ski traffic along the Interstate 70 mountain corridor, an online radio broadcast debuts Saturday that the Colorado Department of Transportation hopes will help during peak times.

“I-70 Mountain Travel Radio” will air live every Saturday and Sunday during the two peak travel times throughout the ski season and will provide real-time road and traffic conditions between Denver and Vail.

It will broadcast from 6-9 a.m. and 2:30-6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, and travelers can find the live broadcasts through CoTrip.org or the CDOT mobile app.

“Conditions along the I-70 mountain corridor change extremely quickly, and doing a live broadcast is one of the best ways to inform motorists and keep them updated with the most accurate info,” said CDOT spokeswoman Amy Ford.

If there is enough audience interest, CDOT may expand the broadcast to cover other highways, Ford said.

The broadcast will note upcoming events at ski resorts and mountain towns, along with news about discounts for motorists who stay out of I-70 traffic during peak travel times.

CDOT has hired veteran broadcasters Jim Hudson and Nia Bender as the hosts.
