All lanes of Interstate 25 will be closed in both directions Wednesday night at U.S. 6, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release.

The closure is scheduled between 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, and 5 a.m. Thursday.

Northbound motorists will be forced off I-25 onto eastbound U.S. 6, then sent to Osage Street to access the ramp back to I-25.

Southbound motorists will be forced off I-25 onto westbound U.S. 6 to Federal Boulevard. From there the detour takes 5th Avenue to eastbound U.S. 6 to the ramp back to southbound I-25.

Crews must close I-25 while they pour the bridge deck on the new northbound I-25 off-ramp to westbound U.S. 6, CDOT said.

The new off-ramp bridge, scheduled to open in early 2015, “will feed into a new collector-distributor road designed to provide a safer, more efficient merge from I-25 to westbound U.S. 6,” CDOT said.
