1 Taxidermy messenger. At around 7 p.m. Jan. 10, someone rang the doorbell of a home on Meadowbrook Circle in Littleton, and left a stuffed deer head with a sign around its neck on the porch. The sign read, in part, “Leave the squirrels alone … or see what can happen!” The homeowner said he had recently trapped about 15 squirrels that had infested his back yard.

2 Wheels of steal. Employees at AutoNation Ford,8252 S. Broadway, Littleton, found a truck in the dealership’s lot with two rear wheels removed Jan. 12. The truck had recently been returned following a lease and was fine the day before. The thief propped up the truck with old tires and may have tried to steal the front wheels, too.

3 Tough luck rental. Officers pulled over a car driving with its lights off on the evening of Jan. 11 near West Mineral Avenue and South Windermere Street in Littleton. The driver said it was a rental car and he was unaware the lights were off. He had a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic case and was arrested.

4 Drink and slink. The owner of D’s Tavern,819 W. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, on Jan. 16 said two customers argued they had already given a credit card to pay for an $87 tab and refused to do so again. The owner threatened to call police if they failed to pay. They ran out of the bar and drove away.

5 Warrant arrest. An employee of the post office at 5753 S. Prince St., Littleton, was reportedly acting depressed at work Jan. 19. Officers performed a welfare check on him and found he had a warrant for a DUI-related charge. He was arrested.
