Colorado State is expanding the use of its “State Pride” uniforms to the hardwood.
The Rams’ state flag-inspired duds — debuted last fall by CSU football in a 59-52 overtime loss to Boise State — have been adapted for their basketball programs, the school announced early Monday. The men’s team will wear them at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 against Wyoming and the women’s team at 2 p.m. Saturday against New Mexico. Both games are at home.
With white tops and bottoms, the uniforms feature the iconic red-and-yellow Colorado state flag’s “C” on the leg of the shorts. The numbers are blue and trimmed in red. “Colorado State” is printed across the chest above the number.
CSU signed a five-year contract with Under Armour in 2016 that states it can produce three “special uniforms” for three games through the 2020-21 season. CSU was provided with apparel and equipment valued at $2.2 million retail last year, a school spokesman told The Denver Post in September.
“We are excited to extend the State Pride theme by again using elements of our iconic flag,” CSU athletic director Joe Parker said in a news release. “It is a wonderful expression of CSU’s status as our state’s land grant institution.”
CSU’s “State Pride” apparel is available for purchase at both Ram Zone store locations, the team store in Moby Arena’s north concourse and online at CSURams.com.
