‘Months-long’ drug investigation in Colorado county yields more than 30 arrest warrants

Investigators in Mesa County say a “months-long” investigation into a drug trafficking organization has resulted in the issuance of more than 30 arrest warrants.

The county sheriff’s office said that Wednesday marked the end of the multi-agency probe, which included regional authorities, prosecutors, sheriff’s deputies and police.

Officials say their investigation was launched in 2015 when they began receiving information about the organization’s activities in Mesa County.

“These individuals are believed to be directly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the county, including methamphetamine, prescription narcotics, marijuana, marijuana concentrate and heroin,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Investigators say they found many of those illegal activities were taking place in the presence of children and near local area schools. Several guns were also seized.

Mesa County officials say several of the suspects in the case have been arrested on warrants and are being held at the county jail. Their names were not released.

Further details on the case were not immediately made public.
