Police in Colorado Springs have taken a man into custody who they say took his 3-month-old child after a domestic disturbance Saturday morning.

An Amber Alert for the child was sent out just after 3 p.m. Police tweeted about 4:15 p.m. that they had Beatty in custody and that the boy was safe.

Colorado Springs Police Department sent out a news release earlier asking for the public’s assistance in the search. Police said they were initially called at about 9:15 a.m. to a house in the 5900 block of Castlewood Lane to investigate a domestic violence situation.

Police believe that a “physical altercation” took place where a 39-year-old man, Jonathan Cort Beatty, threatened to kill “the victim and their child, Blaze.” The victim left to call police and Beatty at that point left the home with the child.

Police believed the man “may pose a risk to Blaze’s safety.”
