It’s been a good week for Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian. In a matter of days, Siemian has earned his first road victory over Cincinnati, a game ball and his first AFC offensive player of the week award from the NFL.

Siemian finished Sunday’s 29-17 victory  over the Bengals completing 23-of-35 passes, for 312 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. The performance was highlighted by a brilliant fourth quarter when he went 9-of-10 for 149 yards, two touchdown passes and a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian (13) calls the play at the line during the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 25, 2016 at Paul Brown Stadium.

Siemian became the first quarterback to throw for at least 300 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in his first career road start. Former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (twice in 2013) is the only other player in Denver history who has achieved those numbers on the road.

“It’s a great honor, no doubt,” Siemian said about the award. “But I think it’s more of a testament to what we do as an offense and the team.”

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was named the AFC’s defensive player of Week 2 after his three-sack performance against quarterback Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.

Injury updates. Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (forearm), tight end Virgil Green (calf), right tackle Donald Stephenson (calf) and safety Shiloh Keo (swollen knee) missed practice Wednesday. Safeties Justin Simmons (wrist) and T.J. Ward (neck) were limited.

Ware will not play this week. Kubiak said Green and Stephenson are day-to-day, but Green is a bit ahead. If Stephenson can’t play again Sunday, Kubiak said Ty Sambrailo would start at right tackle again despite struggling in his first start of the season.

Simmons said he hopes to play Sunday, but he’s still a week away from the fracture being healed enough to play without heavy protection.

Coming home. Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was born in Cleveland, but his NFL hometown is Tampa, which drafted him in the first round in 2008. Sunday will be his first regular-season game in Tampa since he was traded to the New England Patriots in 2012.

“It will be exciting,” Talib said. “I have a bunch of great memories. I bought my first house out there — hated to sell it. I held on to it as long as I could. I have so many memories. I loved my time in Tampa.”

Footnotes. Broncos safety Will Parks was fined $24,309 for a hit on a defenseless player vs. Cincinnati. No penalty was called and Parks plans to appeal the fine … Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said he is  writing two books before he retires: one on the 3-4 defense and another about his dad, and longtime coach, Bum Phillips.
