Village Homes of Colorado last week broke ground on a development that will bring nearly 700 homes to the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood near Chambers Road and Green Valley Ranch Boulevard.

Denver Connection will include 284 single-family homes and 414 attached townhomes over the 115-acre site. Forty of those acres will be designated as open space, including a 10-acre park maintained by Denver Parks and Recreation.

“It will have broad appeal to people who work at nearby companies, DIA and downtown Denver, especially those who travel a lot, want an easily accessible location in the city and county of Denver and are looking for a home-ownership opportunity with lifestyle flexibility,” Jeff McGovern, Colorado division manager for Village Homes, said in a statement.

A big part of the development will include the widening of Green Valley Ranch Boulevard from two to four lanes between Chambers Road and Peña Boulevard. That work will be paid for by Village Homes as part of the project.

“The new Village Homes development will connect two major communities through the expansion of Green Valley Ranch Boulevard, create spacious new parks, and encourage much needed retail development,” Denver City Councilwoman Stacie Gilmore said in a press release. “District 11 has waited for decades to see development on this high-profile corner and we look forward to welcoming our new friends to our wonderful neighborhood.”

The homes will range between 1,242 square feet and 2,450 square feet and will be priced between the mid $200,000s to the high $300,000s. The first model homes are scheduled to be finished in spring or summer 2017.
