Two Evergreen High School students and football players have been arrested in connection to an alleged hazing incident.

The pair was arrested at school Wednesday after meeting with two Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, said Jenny Fulton, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The student’s parents were present during the meeting with the deputies, one of whom is the school’s resource officer.

After the meeting and the subsequent arrest, the suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Juvenile Assessment Center where they were booked and then released to their parents. The students names were not released because they are juveniles.

The two students have been suspended from school and dismissed from the football team, county officials said.

One student, 16, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing, Fulton said. The other, 15, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor harassment.

The allegations are “related to some incidents that could be described as hazing or bullying,” Fulton said.

The Evergreen Cougars play rival Conifer Lobos at 7 p.m. Friday.

The two students are “no longer on the football team,” said Diana Wilson, a Jefferson County School District R-1 spokeswoman.

Both have also been suspended from the high school as well, Wilson said.

An investigation is ongoing.
