Unseasonably hot weather in Denver on Thursday led to a record high temperature for the date, according to the National Weather Service.

Denver’s high temperature on Thursday climbed to 92 degrees at 3:05 p.m., besting the previous record high of 89 degrees set in 2015.

The record heat, very low humidity and winds out of the south gusting to 40 mph combined to trigger “red flag” fire warnings for widespread areas of the Eastern Plains and along the Front Range, including Castle Rock, Colorado Springs and Pueblo, the weather service said.
