Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a West Jefferson Middle School physical education teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old runaway girl.

Michael Steven Bueno, 48, is being held for investigation of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a sheriff’s office news release Wednesday.

A 911 call was made at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to Jefferson County dispatchers, the news release says. Deputies found the girl at a “family-owned” cabin in Pine.

Bueno, who is also an assistant football coach at Conifer High School, was also inside the cabin.

Deputies discovered several open containers of alcohol, the news release says.

Bond has not yet been set.
