A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for his role in a Golden home-invasion stabbing in which investigators say a group of suspects went to the wrong address and seriously injured the homeowner.

Prosecutors announced Cody Jones’ sentence Thursday night.

Jones was one of four people charged in the stabbing, alongside 21-year-old Caleb Williams, 18-year-old Tyler Gorringe and 19-year-old Julia Johnson. All have pleaded guilty to charges in the May encounter.

The Jefferson County district attorney’s office says that just before 9 p.m. May 16, Jones, Williams and Gorringe, wearing black bandannas over their faces, knocked on the door of the house in Golden and pushed their way in.

They thought they were at the house of a drug dealer, prosecutors say, and were planning to steal money and drugs. However, they had the wrong house.

At the home were Jesse Swift, a middle school teacher, and his school-teacher wife, Jessica, along with two small children.

“The homeowners tried to protect themselves, and the husband was stabbed and seriously injured,” the district attorney’s office said in a news release. “The wife called 911, and the Golden Police Department immediately responded.”

Police released a chilling 911 call from Jessica Swift as she pleaded for help outside her home.

“Oh, my God, please help, please. My husband is bleeding very badly!” she screamed.

“They knocked on my door, and they came into my house. … We have one of them down, inside of our house,” Jessica Swift said, her voice shaking during the 3-minute, 22-second call.

“We have two kids downstairs in the basement,” Jessica Swift said.

Police arrested Williams and Gorringe at the scene. Johnson was arrested  May 20, and Jones turned himself in July 7, according to officials.
