A teen has died after a fall at the Denver Academy in southeast Denver Friday night.

His identity will be released by the Denver coroner at a later date, although Denver Police could not say when that will be.

The teen was with two other friends at the school when he fell and struck his head, Denver Police Department spokesman John White said. He was transported to a hospital as police investigated the incident — which they said does not appear to be criminal — and was listed on Saturday afternoon as being in critical condition.

“I was at the scene last night and it’s our belief at this point that it was an accident,” White said Saturday. “There is no criminal nexus to it.”

The incident was initially reported by police as a death investigation at the private day school, located in the 4400 block of East Iliff Avenue, that serves grades 1-12.

Denver Police tweeted on Saturday night that the teen had died.
