STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — The allure of doughnuts was far too much for one Steamboat Springs resident.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports Todd and Kim Robertson awoke early Monday to a black bear trying to break into their doughnut delivery vehicle. The bear was so determined to enter the car, it ripped off its back bumper.

Kim Robertson says the bear was no doubt attracted to the scent of doughnuts pouring out of the couple’s Ford Focus.

The Robertsons own Moose Watch Cafe — in downtown Steamboat. They use the vehicle to make wholesale doughnut deliveries around town.

Todd Robertson says there were no doughnuts in the vehicle, which was parked in their driveway, at the time of the bear encounter. But even the leftover smell appeared to attract the animal.
