University of Colorado senior George Frazier is on the preseason watch list for the 2017 Paul Hornung award, the Louisville Sports Commission announced on Monday.
Frazier is one of 47 players on the list. The award is given annually to the most versatile player in college football.
Frazier, who has appeared in 38 games for the Buffaloes in his career, is expected to have an impact on both sides of the ball and special teams in 2017.
He spent the past two seasons on offense, primarily used as a blocker at tight end and in the backfield. He helped the Buffs to a school-record 500 yards of offense or more on six occasions last year. Frazier was awarded the team’s 2016 Eddie Award, which is given to the player that displays outstanding team leadership.
Frazier made 10 appearances on defense as a redshirt freshman in 2014 and recorded 15 tackles, three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He played in all 12 games on offense that year at tight end, rushing for one score and catching three touchdown passes.
Arizona State’s Kalen Ballage, Washington State’s Jamal Morrow, Oregon’s Charles Nelson, Washington’s Dantee Pettis and Cal’s Tre Watson join Frazier on the watch list from the Pac-12.
Fan voting for the awards opens in September.
