Hundreds of citizens will head to the LoDo streets on Saturday dressed as gorillas.

The 7th annual Denver Gorilla Run will benefit the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund

The 5.6 mile walk, run, or ride landed the Guinness World record for 1,061 “people dressed as gorillas” in 2009.

Participants, who pay $99.95, get to keep the gorilla suit provided for the event. The price to register and keep a “little gorilla” suit, is $50.

The non-profit organization helps protect the highly endangered gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The organization is in the middle of raising funds for the first step of a three phase project that will expand a veterinary school in Uganda and to build a wildlife museum.

The start and finish line is at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, 1634 18th Street, and registration begins at 9 a.m.
