The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has identified all 12 victims of the shootings early Friday at the Century Aurora 16 complex and completed autopsies on half of the dead, authorities say.
“We’ve got everyone positively identified and some family members have been notified,” said Arapahoe County coroner Dr. Michael Dobersen.
The names of the victims will be released after families members are notified, Dobersen said this morning.
He said he and his staff hope to complete all of the autopsies today.
Most of the victims had gunshot and shrapnel injuries. In some instances bullets tore through seats and carried pieces of metal into the bodies of victims, Dobersen said.
“They are very complicated wound patterns,” he said.
Suspect James Eagan Holmes, 24, allegedly used three different kinds of weapons: handguns, a high-powered rifle and a shotgun.
“We’re seeing injuries from all of them,” Dobersen said.
