 In an effort to be sure that donations to assist the victims of the Aurora theater shooting wind up at a legitimate source, GivingFirst.org offers this list of organizations to prospective donors.

“This tragedy has touched us all,” says Marla J. Williams, the president and chief executive officer of the Community First Foundation. “GivingFirst.org provides a quick and secure way to find nonprofits that are assisting the victims and the families affected by this devastating occurence. And it allows people to donate to multiple organizations at once.”

By 10:30 p.m. Friday, $125,000 in donations had been received.

The featured nonprofits include Aurora Mental Health Center, Arapahoe/Douglas Mental Health Network, Mental Health America of Colorado, the Bonfils Blood Center Foundation, Metro Crisis Services, Inc., Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance and the Denver Center for Crime Victims.

GivingFirst.org is an online giving resource of the Community First Foundation, and is the platform for Colorado Gives Day.
