Chinook Tavern 6380 S. Fiddlers Green Circle, Greenwood Village, 720-266-6000, chinookdenver.com. Open seven days.

The look: How do you say “massive” in German? This sprawling, airy space includes a handful of dining rooms and a huge bar area. The place is so big the waiters don’t actually carry plates — they wheel them around on office carts. Details from Chinook’s previous life in Cherry Creek North survive (whimsical artwork, colorful finishes) but the new space is, well, spacious. Big bonus: Free parking in a covered garage.

On the menu: Fans of the old Chinook, rejoice! Old favorites like mushroom streudel, weiner schnitzel and calf’s liver are still here, plus a few Italianesque diversions into pizza and pasta. (In a stirring nod to more than a few current culinary trends, one pizza features duck confit with a sake hoisin glaze, plus port wine poached pears, scallions, a spicy pepper sauce and brie cheese. Achtung!)The vibe: Buzzing, vigorously. Chinook’s location — just steps from the light rail, has ensured a busy and growing happy-hour crowd. Greenwood Village residents mingle with post-workday drinkers.

When to visit: Planning a trip downtown for a show? Knock dinner out before you hop on the light rail.
