Travelers can expect dangerous driving conditions Saturday from the Eastern Plains, through the metro area and into the mountains as a winter storm hits large swaths of Colorado.
The Front Range foothills can expect 4 to 8 inches of snow while Denver could see up to 6 inches, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The southern metro area and Eastern Plains are under a winter storm warning, with near-blizzard conditions and wind gusts up to 45 mph. The weather service warns of hazardous, difficult travel due to blowing and drifting snow, and limited visibility, which could lead to road closures.
Denver’s driving conditions will be tough but slightly better — 20 to 30 mph winds and slippery roads.
The winter weather is expected to continue into Saturday night, with the cold and wind persisting into Sunday.
