Rural Colorado school superintendent acquitted on six child sex assault charges

A Lincoln County jury has acquitted the superintendent of the Karval School District on six of the seven child sexual assault charges against him.

The jury could not reach a decision on the seventh charge against Kenneth Cody Weber.

A judge on Friday declared a mistrial on a charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, pattern of abuse, according to a Monday news released by Vikki Migoya, spokeswoman for District Attorney George Brauchler.

A status conference has been set for May 16.

School officials in December 2016 told parents in the district that Weber had been placed on administrative leave.

Karval is located 75-miles east of Colorado Springs and 45-miles south of Limon. Karval RE-23 has a small PK-12 campus.
