Last Thursday began as a normal shift for El Paso County sheriff deputy Brad Bengford and K9 Officer Nash. Until Nash started getting sick.

Bengford rushed Nash to a veterinary emergency room. The staff there confirmed that Nash’s stomach had turned — a life-threatening condition for dogs.

Nash underwent surgery and has returned home to recover, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. He’s expected to return to work sniffing out contraband and assisting in arrests in a month or two.

But now he enduring another trauma — a gigantic blue cone of shame that is simply monstrous.

Will he ever recover from the horrendous fashion choice foisted upon him?

His doggy smile from within the depths of the cone’s shadows suggests he will.

Good boy, Nash.
