Bank robber strikes Denver’s 16th Street Mall; police seek help identifying suspect

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a bank robber who struck on Denver’s 16th Street Mall.

The robbery happened at about 3:20 p.m. Monday at a Wells Fargo Bank, 1601 Blake St., according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release. The robber presented a teller with a note threatening that he had a weapon and demanding money. The robber fled on foot, southwest toward Union Station.

Police describe the robber as a white or Asian man, 30 to 40 years old, about 5-foot-9 with a medium build. The robber, who spoke with an English or Australian accent, had no visible facial hair or tattoos. He wore a black baseball hat with an “N” logo — associated with “Nespresso”©,” — dark sunglasses, dark jacket, dark pants, and gloves.
