A suspect was arrested Friday in connection to the death of a woman, whose body was found inside a suitcase in a trash bin in Pueblo, police said.
Police on Friday had been looking for Anthony “Antonio” Cuevas, 36, as a “person of interest” after Thursday’s discovery of a body at a car wash, 3906 Ivywood Lane, said Sgt. Franklyn Ortega, a police spokesman.
At 5:55 p.m., Pueblo police said on Twitter that a homicide suspect had been arrested on the northside of the city. Police on Friday night confirmed the suspect arrested was Cuevas.
He is being held in Pueblo County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and for a parole violation. Ortega said the parole violation was related to drugs or alcohol.

Also arrested Friday night was 36-year-old Melanie Ann Cuevas, the suspect’s wife. She was detained on a criminal impersonation warrant and was being held in jail on a $1,500 bond, police said.
Investigators released a video on Thursday showing a car pulling up to the trash bin, a driver gets out of the car and pulls a suitcase out of the trunk, dumping it into the bin.
On Friday investigators found the suspect vehicle, Ortega said. Police have served multiple warrants, including one in the 800 block of Euclid Avenue, and another at a Pueblo hotel, as they looked for Cuevas.
